Publish

opendata.swiss is the central point of access to Swiss Open Government Data (OGD). This section explains how to publish your data on opendata.swiss.

  Harvester

Harvesters are an easy way to publish large numbers of datasets. The only requirement is to have metadata available in the DCAT-AP Switzerland format via a URL. If you have a rather large amount of datasets (>= 100), you can use our harvesters to automatically update them at regular intervals.

  Selecting your publication option

The opendata.swiss portal only references and manages metadata. The primary data, as well as responsibility for publishing them, remain with the data supplier. When you publish your data, you can choose between four technical options. The following table will help you decide which option is best suited to your organization.

  Publication

Once you have decided a publication route, you can start publishing open data. This is done in most cases directly on opendata.swiss. If you wish to publish geographic data, this happens via geo.admin.ch. Once you have selected your publication option, you need to upload the metadata.

Support

The OGD Handbook provides support for individuals and organizations wishing to publish open government data. It is designed as a wiki: contributions from organizations and individuals that have experience with open data are explicitly welcomed. handbook.opendata.swiss is operated by the Federal Statistical Office.
